Hello parents and students!
We had a great first week and I wanted to say thank you so much to all of the parents who responded to the "Million words or less" assignment. The letters have given me insight to each of your children and I am looking forward to getting to know each of them better throughout the year.

In class:
Last week we have been focusing on practicing the rules and procedures of the classroom. We discussed the metric system, lab safety, and basics of the science classroom.
Students completed their first lab, "Gummy Bear Lab." Ask your child what observations they made about their "gummy bear" during day 2 of their experiment.

Assignments:
  • Metric conversion
  • Lab safety worksheet
  • Gummy Bear Lab
Coming up:
This week we will begin discussing Science Inquiry process. The students will begin to understand the definition of science. What science is and is not, famous scientists, and science technology and how it has affected the world around them. We will continue with an in depth look into the scientific method.

Assignments Coming up:
  • Mouse lab scenario
  • Variables
  • Scientific method worksheet
  • "Gak Lab"
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

"The scientist's inquiry into the causes of things is providing an ever more extensive understanding of nature."
